📝 Details:

Follow-up- Al-Zawiya Net- Maritime navigation sites witnessed a turmoil in the signs of ships sailing in the Red Sea, off the city of Port Sudan, as a result of unknown disturbances on the GPS system “GPS”.

On May 9, the British Maritime Trade Operations Authority, “UKMTO”, warned that a number of ships were exposed to electronic overlap that lasted for several hours, which extended from Jeddah Saudi Arabia to the Sudanese Port Sudan.

Ikad continued the movement of “GPS” signals through specialized platforms to monitor the timing of the beginning of jamming in the Port Sudan region, and the potential party behind it.

According to the data of the “Flightradar24” website, the jamming began in the area on May 14, and is still ongoing.

On May 19, the data of the marine navigation site “MarinetrafFic” showed that a number of ships in Sudan seemed to sail over land, which confirms that the imbalance is the result of confusion in navigation systems.

In the same context, Sudanese sources reported that the source of confusion is still unknown, amid questions about the possibility of external interventions or natural factors that affect the “GPS” system in the region.

Some sources suggested that jamming may be within defensive measures to prevent the attacks of the drones, which recently targeted and caused widespread damage.

It is worth noting that the navigation sites had previously talked about the delinquency of the “MSC Antonia” container of “MSC” in the Red Sea, and it is believed to have been subjected to disturbing the “GPS” system while sailing.
