Follow-up- Al-Zawiya Net- The Sudan Doctors ’Network, an informal group, warned of a semi-comprehensive collapse of the health system in the Darfur region and the states of Kordofan, with 60% of the medical facilities in Khartoum continued to stop.

She said that in light of the continuation of the war and the breadth of its geographical area, this statement warns of the near -complete collapse of the health system in rapid support control sites, and some areas that are under the control of the Sudanese army due to the continued departure of the majority of medical facilities from service, the stopping of reference hospitals, and the displacement of thousands of medical cadres from the country.

Field reports from various states of Sudan indicate that the health system has passed in its worst stages since the start of the conflict, as most areas are outside the actual health coverage, in the absence of almost completely for basic services, a severe deficiency in supplies, and the loss of the ability to respond to emergency situations or chronic or epidemic diseases.

The network said that, according to disturbing numbers, it was monitored through the network team from the field, 75-85% of health facilities are disrupted in Khartoum, the major hospitals are closed or partially operating, and the destruction or closure of more than 90% of health facilities in some states, Darfur province, especially in El Geneina, Nyala and Al-Fasher.

The network pointed to the damage of reference hospitals and the closure of up to 60% of the facilities in the state of Al -Jazeera, as well as half of the facilities stopped or their work with a very low capacity in Kordofan.

She noted that the eastern states of the country suffer from tremendous pressure on the health structure as a result of widespread displacement, with partial operation of the facilities, and that field reports indicate a sharp deterioration in the health situation in the Blue Nile region.

The network called on the international community, humanitarian organizations, United Nations and African Union, to move immediately to remedy the health catastrophe in the Darfur and Kordofan region.

It called for the availability of safe humanitarian corridors to deliver medical supplies to the affected areas, to provide urgent financial and logistical support to rehabilitate hospitals and vital health centers, to send emergency medical teams to compensate for the severe shortage of cadres in the affected areas.

She stressed the importance of pressure on the warring parties to stop targeting health facilities and ensuring their complete neutrality, launching a comprehensive vaccination campaign to prevent potential epidemics in the areas of displacement and population density.

The network stressed that if it is not moved now, the remainder of the health system in the conflict areas may completely collapse within weeks, which will endanger millions of civilians, especially children, women and people with chronic diseases.
