The Egyptian President informs Iran on the security of the Red Sea

Follow-up- Al-Zawiya Net- Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stressed that the return of navigation to normal in the Bab al-Mandab and Red Sea strait represents a utmost regional priority, given the strategic importance of this region for global trade and the security of the region.

This came during his reception today, Monday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqji in Cairo, as part of an official visit aimed at discussing regional developments and enhancing bilateral cooperation between Egypt and Iran.

The spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic, Ambassador Mohamed El -Shennawi, explained that the meeting dealt with the rapid challenges in the region, where the president stressed the Egyptian position rejecting the expansion of the conflict circle, stressing the need to stop the escalation to prevent the slipping into a comprehensive regional war, indicating in this context the importance of negotiations taking place between Iran and the United States of America.

For his part, the Iranian Foreign Minister valued the Egyptian pivotal role in supporting the stability of the region, stressing his country’s keenness to continue consulting and coordination with Cairo during the next stage.

This meeting comes at a time when the region is witnessing extensive diplomatic efforts to avoid the explosion of a wide regional conflict, in light of the complexities of the situation in the Gaza Strip and the ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States.
