The European Union supports Sudan with huge sums

Follow-up- Al-Zawiya Net- The European Union announced that aid is more than 280 million euros to meet the most vulnerable needs in Sudan and neighboring countries.

The European Union said, in a statement that it decided to provide aid for 282.5 million euros to Sudan and neighboring countries to support refugees and host communities.

He revealed the allocation of 160 million euros to support those affected by the conflict in Sudan, with support to focus on the areas facing starvation and severe food insecurity that host large numbers of displaced people.

He pointed out that support includes cash assistance, health care services, nutrition, water, sanitation, shelter support, protection and education.

The European Union decided to allocate 48 million euros for refugees, returnees and host societies in South Sudan, Ethiopia, Egypt and Libya, to address the indirect effects of the war in Sudan.

The statement pointed out that 74.5 million euros of the total new financing are dedicated to supporting the response to the displacement crisis in the region of Lake Chad and the flow of refugees and returning to the east of the country.

He stated that the amount will be used to provide food and nutritional assistance and protect the most vulnerable individuals and families, health care and basic medicines, water, sanitation and hygiene services, and provide shelter and education.

The European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management, a need for Habib, said that the continued conflict in Sudan leads to an increase in humanitarian needs in the entire region.

It suggested that the escalation of the fighting would lead to the escape of more people to Chad, stressing that it “witnessed itself the size and impact of this crisis, as it bears the most weak burden.”
