The Ministry of Energy and Oil in Sudan revealed that the ore oil of the State of South Sudan has exceeded the Eastfone Pump Station, north of the capital, Khartoum, on its way to the port of Bashaer in the Red Sea state, east of Sudan, in preparation for export.

In January 2025, Sudan informed the government of southern Sudan, of raising the state of “force majeure”, based on the agreed security arrangements between the two governments, in addition to the measures taken by the Bechara Pipelines Company to ensure the arrival of equipment and equipment to all stations along the pipeline.

The head of the line restarting committee at the Ministry of Energy, Eng. Mohamed Saleh Othman, said in a statement to “Ultra Sudan” that the southern Sudan’s oil ore exceeded the Aylafoun station, and is currently heading to the pumping station of the reserve, and then to the export line leading to the port of Bashaer in the city of Port Sudan.

The source confirmed that the export of oil will contribute to alleviating the economic crisis that southern Sudan suffers from.

In the same context, a diplomatic source in the government of South Sudan told “Ultra Sudan” that his country had resumed pumping oil after a short time to inform Sudan of the end of the force majeure, expecting oil to reach the port of Bashaer before the end of this April. The source added that the first shipment of oil produced from the 4 and 7 squares will be issued in early May 2025.

The source emphasized that the export of oil will contribute to alleviating the economic crisis that his country suffers from, as the oil sector is the backbone of the economy in South Sudan since the declaration of independence in 2011, as it represents about 98% of government revenues, and 60% of the gross domestic product, as it is the main source of foreign exchange.

South Sudan has confirmed oil reserves estimated at about 3.5 billion barrels (according to 2020 data), which places it in the third place in Africa, but the weak infrastructure and the lack of investments immediately prevented the exploitation of most of these resources. The Minister of Oil in southern Sudan, Bot Kang School, recently announced plans to resume production at a rate of up to 90 thousand barrels per day.

Khartoum and Juba had signed an agreement to transfer 150 thousand barrels per day from southern oil across Sudanese territory, compared to a transit fee of $ 24 per barrel, which is estimated at monthly returns of about 100 million dollars. Sudan lost these revenues during the pumping period.
