RSF advances in Sudan’s White Nile State, displacing residents
December 20, 2024 (AD DOUIEM) – The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have advanced into villages north of Ad Douiem in Sudan’s White Nile state, according to residents and volunteers fighting alongside the army, triggering displacement.
An eyewitness from Tayba village told Sudan Tribune that RSF fighters had established a base in the village, with additional positions in Seleik and Al Marraakh villages.
Since mid-November, villages north of Ad Douiem have faced sporadic RSF attacks and looting, causing residents to flee to Ad Douiem. The RSF has now set up bases in some villages, just 17 km (10.5 miles) from the Sudanese army base in Jebel Al Arshkool.
Last week, the RSF killed an entire family in an attack on Al Qatina Al Gharbiya in White Nile state, the deadliest attack since the assaults north of Ad Douiem began.
Villages including Tayba, Al Marraakh, Seleik, Shakiri, Wad Nuwar, Qoz Al Bayda, Wad Nimr, Al Hussein Al Sufi, and Al Qatina Al Gharbiya have seen residents fully or partially flee in the past two days.
Since last year, the RSF has been pushing south towards White Nile state from its positions in Jebel Aulia on the east bank of the White Nile, about 45 km (28 miles) south of Khartoum.
Ad Douiem, located on the west bank of the White Nile, is connected to the east bank by a bridge.
