I see – Adel Al -Baz – Saudi Arabia descends to the stadium (2/2)

In the first episode of this article, I said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia began to draw a new policy towards Sudan and in an independent way, taking into account its interests and national security, in addition to its view of the strategic dangers surrounding the Horn of Africa, and its fear that it is surrounded by it.
This policy began with active diplomacy in order to break the cordon from the neck of Sudan, and played a decisive role in the Sudanese crisis. What did the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia do?

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia began an intense African diplomatic tour for the countries of the collar. Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Eng. Walid bin Abdul Karim Al -Khuraiji, last March, Chad, Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Kenya. The talks focused on stability in Sudan, in light of the strained conditions in the country.
It is worth noting that the same countries had visited it on November 29 last year, Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State in the United Arab Emirates, added to it in addition to Uganda and Central Africa, countries that play a major role in committing to the political and military conditions in Sudan, with full support for the UAE -backed jamid militia. In all of these visits, the issue of Sudan was present in all the discussions that took place in the capitals of those countries.

After the Saudi Deputy Foreign Minister’s tour to “the collar countries”, a high -level Saudi delegation visited the Sudanese city of Port Sudan. The delegation included representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Saudi Development Fund, and the King Salman Center for Humanitarian Work. Abdul Karim Al -Khuraiji met with a number of officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Sudanese economic sector ministries.
Certainly, talks on political and military aspects took place, especially since the visit came after the announcement of the liberation of the Republican Palace (on March 26), an important turn in the war, confirmed the progress of the Sudanese army and its approach to crawling to the regions where the militia is still active after defeating it permanently.

On March 23 of the same month, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Muhammad Kaka, the President of Chad, and went under the cover of Umrah, leaving an invitation that was supposed to meet from Abu Dhabi.
This summons was aimed at spoiling the Mohammed bin Zayed regime plan by Riyadh.
The Africa Conversal patrol indicated last month that Mohamed Kaka’s visit to Abu Dhabi in early March to seek reassurance, and said that “his reception in Anjamina indicates that he has been disappointed.”
Some circles promoted that the purpose of the visit is to listen to the kingdom’s opinion in the role it plays in the war in Sudan, and it was rumored that he met the president, but that reports were not confirmed.

On Friday, March 28, 2025, the first team, the first corner of Abdel -Fattah al -Burhan, Chairman of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, arrived in the city of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on an official visit.
Not much did not leak about those meetings that took place at the highest levels, but all the evidence indicates that the President Al -Barhan has returned from the Kingdom, not only with promises, but with actual support and at all levels. The executive management (the Supreme Coordination Committee), which formed, began working from the next day, to show seriousness.

In mid -February, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia refused to participate in a conference called by the UAE in Adis Ababa, which was held under the title “Humanitarian Aid”, after the Sudanese government boycotted the conference, considering that it was a political bazaar under a human cover, to polish the image of the adult Emirates in the blood of the Sudanese.
This means that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has emerged from the “Rescue of Spirits” coalition, which was formed in the aftermath of the Geneva Conference last year with a measure from the Emirates, that is, further away from the Abu Dhabi agenda and its opposition publicly.

After announcing a conference of the Constituent Alliance, which was held in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, on February 18th to form a parallel government in Sudan, Saudi Arabia confirmed, in a statement on February 27, that “it rejected any illegal steps or measures that take place outside the framework of the work of the official institutions of Sudan that may affect its unity and do not express the will of its people, including the call to form a parallel government.”
This means that the Kingdom rejected the plot and the raw cooks prepared by Abu Dhabi to divide Sudan, similar to what it did in Libya and Yemen. Indeed, the Kingdom led the whole Gulf to announce its rejection of that government, in addition to its leadership of all Arab and Islamic institutions and organizations to refuse to form any parallel government in Sudan.

It is true that Saudi Arabia’s recent movements in the Sudanese file are not just diplomatic efforts to solve the crisis, nor to reduce the disastrous Abu Dhabi interventions in Sudan, and are not only related to the suspension of the expansion of Emirati influence that threatens navigation and trade in the Red Sea, but these moves come within a broader strategic vision aimed at strengthening Saudi influence in Africa, protecting economic interests, ensuring regional security, in light of intense competition with countries within the Gulf And outside.

However, ending the war in favor of the Sudanese state institutions, up to the stability of the united Sudan, represents the stone of mosa in that strategy. Without Sudan’s stability and victory in this war, it is not possible to talk about stability in the Horn of Africa, and it is not possible to guarantee the insurance of the Red Sea, nor can the security of the Gulf itself be guaranteed, in light of this Emirati insight seeking to control the ports and wealth of states and maritime trade routes (Aden / Berbera / Port Sudan), and an attempt to establish a political and military empire surrounding the Gulf will have a strategic impact on all countries of the region.
