Egypt .. a decision regarding the prices of a loaf of bread after increasing fuel prices

Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade in Egypt, confirmed the stability of the price of a loaf of the subsidized municipal bread and the price on the ration cards at a price of 20 piasters for the loaf after increasing gasoline prices today, Friday 11-4-2025.

Farouk pointed out that the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade puts all the cost elements and production inputs for the manufacture of a loaf of subsidized municipal bread, including the price of diesel, in light of the new prices of petroleum products.

Farouk emphasized that the citizen gets the subsidized municipal bread through the catering card at a price of 20 piasters, and the continuation of the state to bear the costs of production and its payment for bakery owners.

This comes within the framework of the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade’s keenness to provide municipal bread that is supported by the ration cards and disbursing citizens regularly.

Sources revealed that the rapid move of the Ministry comes within the framework of keenness to control the markets and prevent any attempts to manipulate prices or monopoly of petroleum products, especially with the new increase announced by the Automatic Pilot Pilot Committee, which included all types of gasoline, diesel and stove.

According to an official statement issued by the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, the new prices for fuel have been applied from six in the morning from Friday, in light of the review of the Automatic Pricing Committee for Petroleum Products Prices, which are reviewing the prices every three months based on the developments of the global market and the exchange rate of the dollar against the Egyptian pound.

The sources pointed out that the Minister of Supply stressed the need for the field presence of directors of directorates and heads of central departments to follow up the situation on the ground, and coordinate with the Supply Investigation to control any violations, whether in relation to selling at unofficial prices or refraining from selling or storing products for the purpose of raising their prices later.

The minister stressed that the Central Operations Room will be in a permanent convening around the clock in the coming days, and will work to receive field reports from the ration directorates, and to take immediate decisions to address any crises that may occur, at the level of the Republic. .

The Minister of Supply directed the directorates of catering in the governorates to intensify control campaigns on gasoline stations and stove warehouses, with the necessity of editing immediate records for violators, and applying the penalties stipulated in the Consumer Protection Law and the Supply Law.

The minister stressed that the campaigns will not be limited to fuel stations only, but will also extend to the markets to monitor any attempts to raise the prices of basic commodities informally on the pretext of the high cost of transportation after the increase in fuel prices.

Hot lines to receive citizens’ complaints after increased gasoline prices today, Friday

The Ministry of Supply has announced the allocation of hot numbers and direct lines to receive citizens’ complaints regarding the manipulation of fuel prices, stove or any monopolistic practices, and it was emphasized that the follow -up teams will deal immediately with any reports, and deterrent legal measures will be taken against violators.
