Surprise in the rate of inflation in Sudan

Follow-up- Al-Zawiya Net- The Central Bureau of Statistics in Sudan announced that the inflation rate in April 2025 decreased by 17.38% compared to March.

The agency said, in a statement that “the rate of change for the general level of prices – inflation – in April 2025 increased by 156.32 from its counterpart in the previous year.”

He explained that the inflation rate for consumer and service goods for the food and beverage group increased by 108.80% during the previous month of April compared to its counterpart in the past year.

The Statistics Authority in the measurement of inflation depends on 663 commodities that represent the pattern of community consumption in its economic, social and geographical categories in the countryside and urban, and divided into 12 groups, in the forefront of food and drinks, followed by tobacco, then clothes and shoes, in addition to housing, electricity, fuel, health, transport, communications, education, and others.

The Statistics Authority stated that the inflation rate in urban areas during April 2025 amounted to 147.52%, down from 165.13%, recorded in the previous month.

He pointed out that the rural areas reached the inflation rate for April 163.73% compared to 181.68% recorded in March.
