A remarkable event on Sudan in London

LONDON- Al-Zawiya Net- The British capital, London, witnessed an important symposium on investment and reconstruction opportunities in Sudan, organized by the British Arab Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Sudan embassy London.

The event brought together a large number of investors and businessmen with the participation of more than 40 companies and financial institutions from companies operating in Britain, in the context of seeking to highlight the promising economic capabilities of Sudan after the war, and to anticipate ways to support reconstruction and development efforts.

The symposium was opened with the speech of His Excellency Ambassador Babiker Al -Siddiq, head of the Sudanese diplomatic mission in London, where he shed light on the challenges facing Sudan in the current stage, stressing at the same time that the country is full of huge investment opportunities in the sectors of agriculture, energy, mining, infrastructure, and information technology.

In a statement to him during the symposium, Ambassador Babiker Al -Siddiq said: “Sudan stands today on the threshold of a new stage of construction and re -construction, and we believe that the private – British and international sector – can be a major partner in this path. We seek to attract capital that contributes to the revival of the economy

The ambassador pointed out that the Sudanese government is making extensive reforms and creating an appropriate legal and administrative environment for investment, in parallel with openness to international partnerships in order to achieve sustainable development and enhance economic stability.

The symposium dealt with a number of major axes, among them the analysis of the current economic reality in Sudan, the prospects for Arab -British cooperation in supporting reconstruction projects, in addition to reviewing success stories and previous experiences for investors on the Sudanese market.

The sessions witnessed a remarkable interaction from the attendees, as a number of businessmen expressed their interest in investing in Sudan, especially in light of the availability of natural and human resources, and the urgent need for development projects that restore hope for societies affected by the conflict.

The Sudan embassy in London played a pivotal role in organizing this symposium and promoting available investment opportunities, as it was keen to communicate with economic authorities and investors in the United Kingdom and the Arab region, and to provide a comprehensive offer for the capabilities that Sudan enjoys in the post -war stage.
