In a new surprise .. Kenyan tea still arrives in Sudan

Follow-up- Al-Zawiya Net- The Africa Intelligence Report newspaper revealed that Kovti, which is constantly classified as the 10 best buyers in the Tea Auction in Mumbasa, where its main headquarters is in Kenya, the company topped the Kenyan tea papers to Egypt for packaging, before re-exporting them to Sudan.

The newspaper said in a report entitled “Kenyan tea sneaks to Sudan despite the ban on import”, that Kenyan tea still makes its way to Sudan, even with the escalation of diplomatic and commercial tensions between the two countries.

She noted that at least one company, which is the Kofitia agencies, continued to charge tea to Sudan, despite the Sudanese Ministry of Trade prohibiting all these imports on March 11th

In the previous month, Kenya hosted the Rapid Support Forces, a paramilitary group in war with the Sudanese armed forces, and used the Kenyan capital to announce the formation of a parallel government and a new constitution.

President William Roto announced that Kenya “is still selling tea to Sudan”, which prompted the Sudanese embassy in Nairobi to issue a press release on April 1 “to clarify the trade policy of Sudan regarding imports from Kenya.”

The Coffea Trading Company in Sudan, its local market, is known as “Kovtia Agnies”, and this giant commercial company, which is based in Khartoum, which is also dealing in coffee, sugar and rice, has transferred its operations to Shendi, northeast of the capital, after the outbreak of the war in Sudan.

In 2016, the company hosted the president at the time Ohuru Kenyatta at its packaging factory in Khartoum during his official visit.
