Follow-up- Al-Zawiya Net- The Sudanese Council of Ministers stressed the need to adhere to the decision to reduce diplomatic missions, and accordingly, all requests for appointing specialized attachments to Sudan embassies abroad were suspended.
The Ministry of Culture and Information announced in mid -March the naming of media attaches at Sudan’s embassies in Addis Ababa and Cairo, and said that two other attachments will be announced in succession in several capitals.
In its session held on March 17, the Council of Ministers directed the strict commitment to the decision to reduce diplomatic missions.
In 2018, the government of Sudan decided to reduce diplomatic missions, closed 13 mission and all the attachments except for three of them, and reduced the administrative staff to up to 50% in an attempt to reduce spending at the time.
The decision, which “Sudan Tribune” obtained a copy of, demanded that any attachments be opened after the decision to reduce diplomatic missions, and to determine the government agency that approved the decision.
The decision was titled, which was signed by the Minister of Cabinet Affairs in charge, Othman Hussein Othman, to the ministries: media, religious affairs, trade, higher education, and justice.
