Follow-up- Al-Zawiya Net- MSF announced the reduction of its support for the state of the Nile River in northern Sudan in the wake of the departure of most of the displaced to their areas and homes in Khartoum.

The past months have witnessed the return of obedience to Sudanese citizens in the wake of the Sudanese army’s control of the states of Khartoum, Al -Jazeera, Sennar and some western parts of the White Nile state and cities in Kordofan, despite the lack of services and the deterioration of the security situation in some areas, including the capital, Khartoum.

According to a spokesman for the Sudanese police forces, Brigadier General Fatah Al -Rahman Muhammad Al -Tom, Khartoum receives daily about 6 thousand citizens returning to the country through various crossings and outlets, according to the Middle East newspaper.

The organization said, in a statement that the general situation in the state of the Nile is currently stabilized, the return of most of the displaced to their original areas, and the health teams of the children’s department’s management independently, the time has come to focus interventions on other critical issues, as is currently the case in the state of Khartoum.

She indicated that she will continue to coordinate with the local health authorities in the Nile in anticipation of any new emergency in the state.

She stated that, over several months, she adhered to the Ministry of Health’s support in improving ways to reach health care of the Nile River residents, especially in the city of Atbara, and also participated in the response to cholera.

The organization reported that it and the Ministry of Health teams treated about 3,250 cholera patients in the Nile River during September and December 2024.

She stated that she started working at Atbara Teaching Hospital, especially in the emergency and children’s departments, as of January 2025, when 70% of patients from the displaced people fleeing Khartoum who lived in miserable conditions, and half of them lack the financial ability to pay the costs of medical consultations.

She added: “During six months, MSF took over the responsibility of providing medical consultations for children, and dealt with thousands of cases of malaria and malnutrition for free.”

Doctors Without Borders explained that she worked with the local authorities to rehabilitate the basic infrastructure in the hospital, including the expansion of the therapeutic nutrition center for resident patients.

She continued: “A large number of cadres of the Ministry of Health covered by incentives provided by MSF were underwent a series of training to improve the quality of health care provided.”
