Follow-up- Al-Zawiya Net- Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development, Minister of Health and Population, announced the inauguration of a project to support patients with kidney palaces of Sudanese residing in Egypt, in cooperation with the World Health Organization, and with the support of the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action.

Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar appreciated the support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Action, in cooperation with the World Health Organization and the relevant partners, to implement this qualitative project, which aims to provide the necessary health care for patients with kidney failure, and to provide biological drugs such as immunodeficiency after organ transplantation, in a move that reflects the depth of human cooperation between brothers.

The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that Egypt, for many years, has committed to its role towards its guests from the Arab and African siblings, as it embraces about 10 million expatriates, the Sudanese are approximately half, and the Egyptian state is keen to provide decent livelihoods for them, not only in terms of subsistence, but also by providing opportunities for treatment and enjoying full rights similar to Egyptian citizens.

Abdel Ghaffar pointed to the depth of Egyptian -Sudanese relations, stressing that the human repercussions after October 2023 have increased Egypt’s commitment to Sudanese brothers, praising the humanitarian role played by the King Salman Center to support patients with kidney failure, due to the need of these patients to regular dialysis sessions and continuous medical care.

He pointed out that Egypt, by virtue of its geographical location, history and capabilities, represents a strategic partner capable of achieving many goals of the King Salman Relief Center, stressing Egypt’s keenness to alleviate the suffering of the Arab brothers on its land, thanks and appreciation to all the participating and supportive parties of this humanitarian project.

For his part, Dr. Naama Saeed Abed, representative of the World Health Organization in Egypt, said that since the outbreak of the conflict in Sudan in April 2023, Egypt has received more than a million and a half Sudanese, while the Gaza crisis added a new wave of displacement to more than 100,000 people, which constituted great pressure on various sectors, in advance of which is the health sector, stressing that the Egyptian Ministry of Health was not late one day from providing health care despite these challenges.

Abed pointed out that “in the midst of this reality, a gap that could not be ignored, was represented in hundreds of kidney failure patients and kidney transplants who cannot be treated or delayed.”

He explained that the data indicates that there are more than 600 Sudanese patients receiving dialysis sessions in Egypt, most of them at their own expense, in addition to more than 500 kidney transplant patients who depend on high -cost immunosuppressive medications, stressing that any delay in treatment is a danger to their lives.

The representative of the World Health Organization explained that the project aims to ensure the continuing health care of patients with kidney failure and kidney transplant from Sudanese residing in Egypt, with a focus on the governorates that are major gathering centers for the beneficiaries, namely: Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, Luxor, and Aswan.

For his part, the team, the first corner of Imad Al -Din Mustafa, the Sudanese ambassador to Egypt and its permanent representative to the League of Arab States, affirmed that the project reflects the depth of brotherly relations between Sudan, Egypt and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and embodies the spirit of Arab solidarity and human solidarity, praising the fruitful cooperation between the King Salman Center for Relief and the Egyptian Ministry of Health and all partners, stressing his hope that this project will be the beginning of other initiatives that reduce the burdens on the people of the people The current circumstances.

In his speech, Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh, Director of the Health and Environmental Aids Department at the King Salman Relief Center, explained that the center, as the relief and human arm of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, continues to perform its noble mission in the service of human being, explaining that this project comes within the series of direct interventions in response to the Sudanese crisis, and is considered the first joint humanitarian cooperation to support the Sudanese brothers in Egypt, and confirms the Kingdom’s commitment to provide aid according to For the priorities of human need.

In turn, Ambassador Abdulaziz bin Abdullah, the permanent representative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the League of Arab States, stressed that the project embodies the humanitarian approach adopted by the Kingdom, which has become one of the most prominent donors to humanitarian actions at the regional and international levels.

Ambassador Abdulaziz thanked Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar and all concerned authorities for the facilities and sincere efforts that contributed to the success of this humanitarian project, which reflects the depth of brotherly relations between the two brotherly countries.
