More than a quarter of a million Sudanese flow from Egypt

He said, according to the Sona Agency, that 75 thousand returned during the year 2024 AD and left the number of 179,778 thousand from January 1 to the end of last May and that 35,500 thousand have returned from June 1 to the middle of this month to their various states, through the initiatives of national, private, good and other initiatives for the children of expatriates in the states in facilitating the return of their families.

The Consul General explained that it expects the voluntary return movement to flow after the Eid al -Adha holiday, then the end of the Sudanese certificate exams and the primary and medium certificates in the various exam centers in Egypt during the coming weeks.

He noted that this movement was taken in the flow and complete coordination of the Sudanese and Egyptian authorities between the two sides in facilitating the flow of return on the continental road through the Arkin border crossing and the Qastal Ashkit crossing, expressing his thanks and appreciation to the Egyptian government in this aspect that facilitated the return of families and exempted them from the legal evenings and fines resulting from the failure to renew the residence or enter in an illegal way

The Consul General stated that there are efforts made by the government of Sudan in Port Sudan in the search for financing for the voluntary return project with organizations and donor countries, and if the financing is available, we can have several paths for the movement of returnees, including the operation of the river transport between Aswan and Halfa and the marine transport between Alexandria and the Sawakin Port.

The Consul called for the necessity of strengthening the Sudanese railway infrastructure and operating the train line between Halfa, Atbara and Khartoum in order to contribute to voluntary return, improve the movement of trade and facilitate movement between the two countries.
