The Egyptian Ministry of Transport announces great developments in Sudan

Follow-up- Al-Zawiya Net- The Egyptian Ministry of Transport announced the development of the current river sidewalk in Wadi Halfa port, with a value of 300 million Egyptian pounds, with an implementation rate that reached 69%so far, and navigation aid is being provided and maintained with a length of 350 km between Aswan and Wadi Halfa to facilitate the movement of passengers and goods.

She pointed out that the General Authority for Wild and Dry Ports is a permanent coordination to facilitate the procedures for crossing and facilitate the movement of trade exchange and the transit of individuals and vehicles by increasing the number of workers in the Maghreel and Arqin expressions, as well as increasing administrative services and subsistence services to serve the transit, and seeking to accelerate customs clearance procedures to avoid overcrowding.

The two sides discussed the new amendments approved by the Sudanese side regarding the transit fees, and its impact on the trade movement and agreement on the proposal of the Egyptian side to form a joint committee to resolve operational and procedural obstacles in the land crossings.

She said that the meeting touched on the most prominent challenges, especially the delay in issuing visas for Egyptian drivers and the facilitation of procedures and the extension of the visa period to 6 months of multiple entry, in addition to the need to intensify work in the Sudanese crossings to reduce waiting times and facilitate the crossing of trucks.

The Egyptian Minister of Industry and Transport stressed the importance of the railway linking between the two countries. Coordination is taking place with the Sudanese side to start implementing the railway linking study with funding from the Kuwait Fund for Economic Development.

The team, a full engineer, said that the joint coordination between the two countries in the transport sector contributes to supporting economic and commercial relations and enhances the opportunities for regional integration and sustainable development, stressing Egypt’s keenness to provide all means of support to the brothers in Sudan at this important stage.
