The two sides touched on the aspects of cooperation and partnership with Sudan in the fields of electricity and renewable energy, and work to complete the second phase of the dual -circuit Egyptian -Sudanese electrical connection line project, “Toshka 2 Wadi Halfa”, the capacity of 300 megawatts.
Dr. Mahmoud Esmat praised the depth of the Egyptian -Sudanese relations, and its distinction throughout the ages, and the historical ties between the two brotherly peoples, reviewing the capabilities of the electricity and renewable energy sector, and discussing the possibility of meeting the requirements and needs of the Sudanese energy sector from electrical transformers with various capabilities and mobile support units and other measures to provide adequate electrical nutrition in many regions, especially in the north of the country, as well as cooperation in the field of training, technical support and renewable energies And the studies necessary to benefit from the Egyptian experience in this field, and the possibility of sending a number of experts to help in preparing technical specifications and measurements to prepare the atlas of wind.
The meeting dealt with ways of cooperation to rehabilitate the electrical network in Sudan and implement an urgent emergency plan to provide the necessary electricity in some areas during the agricultural harvest season, and work to develop a plan to rehabilitate the generation and transformers.
The meeting discussed the developments of the implementation of the second phase of the Egyptian -Sudanese linking line and taking the necessary measures to install its tasks, enhance technical and vocational training programs for workers in the electricity sector in Sudan, use the expertise of the electricity sector in Egypt to improve the efficiency of electrical systems and update infrastructure, and many future projects in the field of energy, including expanding the use of renewable energy sources, setting up solar stations in many areas and the possibility of benefiting from the private sector Egyptian in implementing projects.
Dr. Mahmoud Esmat stressed that the electricity and renewable energy sector has successful experiences, competencies and experiences in implementing urgent emergency plans, and that there is cooperation with the Sudanese side and coordination within the framework of the existing link line to achieve regional integration in the electricity and energy sector, pointing to the importance of exchanging experiences in the fields of renewable energy and rebuilding and rehabilitating electrical networks, and achieving the maximum benefit from natural resources, stressing the keenness to enhance cooperation with Sudan in the framework of joint efforts To achieve energy security in the region, develop energy infrastructure in both countries, pay attention to spreading the uses of renewable energies, achieving environmental sustainability and reducing dependence on traditional energy sources.
He praised the distinguished relations between Egypt and Sudan, and the continued provision of training programs for brothers in the Republic of Sudan on the latest global technologies in the fields of electricity and energy, explaining the joint work between the two countries to provide electrical nutrition and fulfill the requirements of sustainable development plans.
