An explosion in the prices of sacrificial sheep in Sudan

Follow-up- Al-Zawiya Net- The prices of the sacrificial sheep are witnessing a significant increase in some of the states of Sudan, while stability in other states is witnessing the approaching date of the blessed Eid Al-Adha.

Prices in the “Sidon Bnown River in the Nile River state ranged between 600, 650, 700 and 750 thousand pounds, depending on the size of the sheep.

Prices are witnessing a noticeable increase in the city of Telepol, east of Al -Jazeera, and according to traders and citizens in the market, the sheep prices currently range between 450 thousand and 650 thousand Sudanese pounds, according to size, strain and weight. Some merchants attributed the reasons for this rise to the escalation of the cost of feed and transportation, along with the difficult economic conditions in the country.

The Tempol Market is one of the most prominent livestock markets in the region, and it attracts shoppers from multiple cities and villages east of the island, which contributes to moving the market wheel, especially in religious seasons.

Amid these situations, the Sudanese citizen is awaiting the holiday solutions with anxiety, in light of the difficulty of reconciling the basic needs and the costs of sacrifices.

In the city of Kassala (hidden market), prices ranged between 280 and 360 thousand Sudanese pounds for the sheep, and in Raheid Al -Bardi (Al -Ghanam Market) in the state of South Darfur, ranging from 120 to 250 thousand pounds, and in Gedaref the prices ranged between 170 and 280 thousand pounds.

Darfur and Kordofan are relatively cheaper, as prices start from 100 thousand pounds and reach 220 thousand pounds.

Purchase rates are still low in some areas, especially in the Darfur and Kordofan region, but merchants expect to increase turnout during the next few days with the approaching Eid.

Citizens face great challenges in covering the costs of sacrifices, amid escalating inflation and lack of income sources in a wide segment of families, but the traditions related to religious rituals remain a motivation for many families to seek to provide the sacrifice, whatever the circumstances.
