The first scathing international attack on the appointment of Kamel Idris as prime minister

Follow-up- Al-Zawiya Net- British Lord Jeremy Porvis of Tuid described the appointment of Kamel Idris in Sudan as an attempt to grant false legitimacy to one of the parties to the conflict.

Porvis said during his intervention in a special session held by the British Lords Council to discuss the deteriorating conditions in Sudan, that this morning, the Sudanese army commander, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al -Burhan, announced the appointment of an alleged civilian prime minister in Port Sudan. This president is, in fact, a doll appointed by one of the parties to the war. ”

He added that he “is very concerned” that the African Union welcomes this step, warning that the United Nations may follow the same approach, which may contribute to the consolidation of the authority of a reality without a legitimate path that expresses the will of the Sudanese people.

Lord Porvis concluded his intervention by emphasizing that “attempts to impose formal civil leaders by the military or militias, without real popular consultations, will only contribute to the deepening of the crisis,” calling for the support of a civilian leadership process that represents all the spectra of Sudanese society.
