The African Union Commission issues a statement on the appointment of a civilian prime minister in Sudan

Follow-up- Al-Zawiya Net- The President of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssef, said that he had taken a science appointment to Dr. Kamel Al-Tayeb Idris as Prime Minister of the Republic of Sudan.

The President of the Commission praised this development as a step towards a comprehensive governance, expressing his hope that this would effectively contribute to the ongoing efforts to restore the constitutional system and democratic rule in Sudan.

Youssef called on all the owners of the Sudanese stakeholders to double their efforts for a peaceful and comprehensive transition, reflecting the aspirations of the Sudanese people.

Pointing out that the Commission remains ready to support Sudan in this regard, in cooperation with regional and international partners.

The President of the Commission again affirmed the African Union’s steadfast commitment to the unity, sovereignty and stability of Sudan, and his endeavor to a permanent political solution that guarantees peace, development and democratic rule for all Sudanese.
