Follow-up- Al-Zawiya Net- A spokesman for the International Committee of the Red Cross in Sudan said that the organization facilitated more than 45,000 phone calls between families that lost contact with their families during the past year.
The spokesman, Adnan Hizam, said, in an interview with “Sudan Tribune”, that “the International Committee in 2024 conducted more than 45,000 phone calls between families that lost communication with its members inside Sudan.”
He added that the number of people looking for their missing families increased by 66% compared to 2023, which reflects the exacerbation of the humanitarian crisis faced by civilians.
He pointed out that the ICRC received about 7,700 requests to search for missing individuals from their families.
The head of the Red Cross Mission in Sudan, Daniel Omali, said in an interview with “Agence France Presse” published yesterday, Wednesday, that the committee was informed of the presence of 8,000 missing, considering that this number represents only “the apparent part of the Galaid Mountain.”
