Rapid support for children south of Khartoum

Follow-up- Al-Zawiya Net- The rebel rapid support militia looted large quantities of vital humanitarian supplies designated for the treatment of children with malnutrition, in addition to basic health care supplies for new mothers and newborns, from Bishair Hospital in Jabal Awali, south of Khartoum.

For its part, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has convicted the looting of vital humanitarian supplies dedicated to saving the lives of children with malnutrition, in addition to the basic health care of mothers and newborns, from the Bashaer Hospital in Jabal Awlia, South Khartoum.

In a statement issued by Friday, the organization clarified that looting included at least 2200 cartons of therapeutic foodstuffs for use, threatening the lives of more than 2000 children who suffer from acute malnutrition. The Hospital of Bashaer was one of the last medical facilities operating in the region, adding that this attack has exacerbated the humanitarian catastrophe in the families there.

Munjafa, UNICEF Executive Director, Catherine Russell, described the looting of humanitarian supplies as “a direct matter and a direct attack on the survival of children. She also made it clear that the looted supplies included supplements
Iron and folic acid for 6,000 pregnant women and breastfeeding women, as well as the primary health care supplies that were supposed to support more than 132,980 children in an area suffering from scarcity of medical services.
