A dangerous event in the Al -Satan Forest in Khartoum

Follow-up- Al-Zawiya Net- The “Watch Club Initiative”, which is concerned with monitoring environmental encroachments and enhancing society’s awareness of nature issues, launched a campaign to expose encroachments that affected the Al-Sitt Forest in Khartoum and demanding the protection of the forest, which is one of the sites approved by UNESCO.

The initiative said in a statement that the al -Santa forest is not just a green space, but rather a natural reserve that embraces an integrated environmental system and constitutes a strategic resting point for thousands of migratory birds, and is one of the last natural sites for the residents of the capital.

She emphasized that the destruction of this forest is a crime against the environment and the Sudanese society, and opens the door to future environmental disasters that threaten the stability of the local climate and public health.

The statement called for an immediate cessation of all cutting and bulldozing work in the Al -Satan Forest, the accountability of the authorities responsible for this environmental attack, and the escalation of the legal classification of the forest as a banned reserve.
