Follow-up- Al-Zawiya Net- The Sudanese community in Egypt warned of what he described as the silent crisis that may turn into a great security and social burden in Egyptian cities if it is not moved now.
She said that thousands of Sudanese in Egypt today are living without a valid passport, and some without an official document because extracting a lost allowance or renewing the passport from the Sudan embassy in Cairo has required 8,000 Egyptian pounds, while the income of most Sudanese families does not exceed 5,000 pounds.
He noted that the Sudanese citizen who entered Egypt in a legal way, may gradually turn into a “violating” person due to an administrative and financial obstacle that cannot work, or rent, not even leaving Egypt legally and in some cases when he is arrested, he is left, and his family leaves behind him without a family and all of this is due to the high “passport” fees.
He appealed to the Egyptian government’s intervention to communicate with the Sudanese embassy to find a real solution to the crisis, that the passport extraction fees or the availability of a human installment system be reviewed, to give each resident an opportunity to live legally in dignity and in a manner befitting in the name of Egypt and its humanitarian role.
