A dangerous agreement between Haftar, Turkey and Egypt asking for American intervention

Follow-up- Al-Zawiya Net- An Egyptian official revealed to the “Middle East Eye” website that Egypt submitted to the United States to intervene to prevent the East Libya Parliament from ratifying a naval agreement with Türkiye.

An Egyptian official told the site that Cairo is concerned that the ratification of the East Libya Parliament on the agreement initially signed by the Libyan government headed by “Fayez Al -Sarraj” in 2019, may lead to stirring tensions in the eastern Mediterranean, at a time when Egypt suffers from the repercussions of wars in Gaza and Sudan.

An Egyptian official and official in the region told Middle East Eye that the Egyptian Foreign Minister “Badr Abdel -Ati” raised the issue of American intervention in a phone call with “Massad Paul”, the US chief adviser for African affairs, last month.

The officials said, “Paul said that he would contact the caliph of Haftar, the actual ruler of East Libya, to discuss this case,” the officials said.

Analysts expect the House of Representatives headed by “Aqila Saleh” to sign the signature of the agreement, as some indicators that suggest the possibility of the council to be adopted in its upcoming sessions have emerged.
