Egypt responds to the calls of Abu Ahmed regarding the Renaissance Dam

Follow-up- Al-Zawiya Net- Egypt announced its categorical rejection of the continued policy of Ethiopia in imposing the fait accompli in the Renaissance Dam through mono procedures related to the Nile River, as it is a common international water resource, in a clear violation of international law, especially the rules related to fair and equivalent uses of international waterways, and not to cause serious harm.

Dr. Hani Sweilem, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, said that the Ethiopian side has been promoting the completion of the construction of the dam- illegal and contrary to international law- despite the lack of a binding agreement with the two estuary states, and despite the fundamental reservations that Egypt and Sudan expressed, which reflects an Ethiopian approach based on thought that seeks attempts to impose water domination instead of adopting the principle of principle Partnership and cooperation, which will not allow the Egyptian state to happen

In this context, Swailem pointed out that the repeated calls that are issued by the Ethiopian side to resume negotiation are nothing more than formal attempts to improve the mental image of Ethiopia on the international scene, and to show it with the appearance of the side of negotiation, but the practical reality, and the path of negotiation that extends for more than thirteen years without reaching a binding legal agreement, clearly demonstrates the absence of the political will of the Ethiopian side, The lack of these calls for credibility and seriousness, in the absence of any indication of the existence of a real intention to turn the sayings into clear obligations and tangible actions on the ground.

He stressed that the Ethiopian positions that are characterized by dodging and decline and imposing the policy of the fait accompli, contradict its desire to negotiate, which requires the international community to realize its truth.

Swailem stressed that Egypt categorically rejects any attempts to be development in Ethiopia at the expense of the rights of my country.
