Follow-up- Al-Zawiya Net- A source familiar with a trial start of the jelly station for transporting oil, north of the capital, Khartoum, revealed in a move described as a preliminary to completely appeal the transportation and export operations after completing the necessary operational arrangements.
The source affirmed, according to the investigator, that the station entered the service in a limited way during the past days, and is now preparing to return at its full operational capacity “at any time”, as he put it, which represents a positive indication of the revitalization of the oil infrastructure in the country after the long pause imposed by the war conditions.
Al -Jaili station is one of the vital logistical points in the Sudanese oil export network, where it receives raw from the 2B box in the Heglig region, in addition to the oil coming from South Sudan, to pass through it to the port of Bashaer on the Red Sea to export it to the global markets.
This development comes as part of the relevant efforts made by the competent authorities to rehabilitate energy facilities and ensure the continued flow of oil, which is one of the main pillars of the country’s economy.
In a parallel context, the same source affirmed the start of specific maintenance work in the Khartoum refinery located in the Jelly region, by local companies, noting that the greatest damage was focused on storage units as a result of the war, while other productive units show relative stability that enables them to restart them gradually.
The Khartoum refinery was out of service after the Rapid Support Forces took control of it in April 2023, before the Sudanese army was announced in January 2025, its full restoration of the strategic location located about 70 km north of Khartoum.
The refinery is one of the most important strategic facilities in the country, as it covered about 66% of Sudan’s oil derivative needs, and includes refining and storage units and support services that nurture the national network.
Its rehabilitation is rehabilitated in curbing the suffocating fuel crisis, which has cast a shadow over the country’s living and economic situation in the country since the outbreak of the war.
Efforts to restart oil facilities face complex logistical, technical and security challenges, which require accurate coordination between government and technical agencies, but recent moves reflect preliminary references to regain control of strategic economic joints in preparation for the normalization of the country’s industrial scene.
It is expected that the complete rehabilitation and operation of the station and the refinery will be completed in the coming weeks, in the event that the security improvement continues and the required operational resources are provided.
