Sudan and America .. Do you witness a new reality?

Report- Muhammad Jamal Qandoul- the American position on the crisis of Sudan has remained volatile, as it does not seem that Washington is keen to address what is going on in our country, although its degree of interest in the “Biden” administration is relatively more than the era of “Trump”, which preferred to focus on the Gulf money, and Iran’s struggle with Israel.

Yesterday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio came out and presented new perceptions of the future of the United States of America’s abuse with the file of Sudan, as after about 6 months of Trump’s leadership of America, the Sudan file began to take place at the forefront of their priorities.

According to what was reported by international news agencies, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed that Sudan will be the priority of its ministry during the coming period, in order to stop the war and achieve peace.

Marco’s comments came after the success of the “Rwanda and the Democratic Congo” agreement, which was sponsored by American and Qatari.

America was one of the countries that contributed to the outbreak of the fifteenth war of April 2023, after the terrorist militias of Al Daklu on the state, by supporting the framework agreement that secreted the square of a convenient political conflict that eventually led to the outbreak of the largest conspiracy in the country’s history against the Sudanese state.

The US State Department quoted that its chief consultant for African affairs, Massad Paul, said that Sudan’s file is very important for them, noting that it would move on Sudan.

Washington has a series of failed experiences with Sudan’s crises through different times, as it continued to use the policy of the stick and root in its confrontation with Khartoum and did not fulfill the promises and agreements that were a party to it.

International parties

In commenting on this news, the journalist and political analyst d. Ibrahim Shaqlawi said that the entry of the United States on the Sudanese crisis line in this direct image, indicates a possible shift in the balance of international approaches to the war in Sudan.

He pointed out that the appointment of Musaad Paul, known for his economic background and prayers in a number of African circles, as a file assigned, may be an indication of Washington’s desire to pay a comprehensive settlement path that is not limited to the ceasefire, but rather extends to helping the Sudanese economy restructuring and perhaps in the reconstruction, after it saw that there are international competing forces ready to play this role from previous experiences.

Shaqlawi added that the success of the “American – Qatari” mediation in the “Rwandan – Congolese” file granted the American administration a new diplomatic momentum, seeking to invest in more complicated files, such as Sudan, especially in light of the decline in the roles of some traditional regional and international powers, in addition to the confidence that the Sudanese give to Qatar and its successful experiences in the peace of Darfur.

Shaqlawi explained that this American move does not come in isolation from the broader regional context, as the entire region is heading towards the logic of reducing tensions, settling conflicts and investing in peace, including activating more effective collective frameworks in resolving the extended crises.

In this context, Shaqlawi pointed out that a number of regional powers failed to provide a settlement that satisfies the Sudanese, despite the initiatives it showed, created a diplomatic void that allowed the intervention of more effective international parties.

He pointed out that the popular stakes inside Sudan have been held on a decisive international role in curbing the war, especially by preventing the logistical and military supplies of the rapid support militia, which is seen as one of the central factors in prolonging the conflict.

Shaqlawi concluded by saying: The American move, and if it carries a degree of hope, but its effectiveness will be measured by his ability to overcome statements and move to establishing implementation mechanisms that guarantee the restriction of the militia supporters. And the commitment of all parties to a serious political path that enhances peace opportunities in Sudan, not just a temporary ceasefire, or the reproduction of the political fragility that it sponsored by the United States of America within the international quadruple during the period of former Prime Minister Dr. Abdullah Hamdouk.
