The Southern Mediation Committee resolves the controversy over the positions of positions in the Juba Agreement in Sudan

Follow-up- Al-Zawiya Net- The decision of the Southern Mediation Committee, in the Juba Agreement for the Peace of Sudan, Minister of Investment in the State of South Sudan, Dr. Diu Mutuk, confirmed that the Juba peace agreement, according to its texts, is granted all parties to the peaceful process signed on it, the 25% in the structures of the transitional authority in Sudan.

He pointed out that the agreement did not talk about specific paths without the other.

Mutuk said, in exclusive statements to “Al -Shorouk”, that the Juba Salam Agreement was designed on several tracks, namely: “The path of the two regions, Darfur, East, Al -Wasat, and North”, but the agreement of national issues gives the right to all tracks.

He pointed out that the paths of Darfur, the two regions and the eastern Sudan talked about participating in the national authority, and all the protocols of these paths were later modified to participate in the ministries, bodies and federal commissions.

The clarification written by the chief negotiator of the Sudan Liberation Movement, Mohamed Bashir Abu Namo, described yesterday evening on his Facebook account as a “inaccurate conversation.”

Abu Namo had stated that the movements that were attached to the peace agreement Juba are not part of the allocated percentage (25%) of the authority in the agreement, which pertain to the actually armed movements signed, indicating that they are not a general share of all who joined later or participated in other paths, such as the north and the center, which have been allocated for certain stakes of the authority in the states.

Mutuk stressed that the Southern Mediation Committee has no objection to interfering to resolve the current crisis regarding the Juba Salam Agreement, if the Sudanese authorities are requested only.

Dr. Dhu Mutuk expressed his wishes for success and payment to the new Sudanese Prime Minister, Dr. Kamel Idris, in his endeavors and his efforts towards achieving security and stability in brotherly Sudan, and holding peace talks between the government and the opposition with its wings: armed and peaceful.

It is worth noting that in 2020, the “Salam Juba” agreement was signed between the Sudanese government and the armed movements, under the auspices of the State of South Sudan, and in the presence of a number of international and regional witnesses, including: Egypt, Qatar, the African Union, the United Nations, and the European Union, in addition to the Troika countries and the League of Arab States, while each of the countries of Chad and the Emirates had a guarantor role of the agreement.

In recent days, after the appointment of Dr. Kamel Idris as Prime Minister of Sudan and the start of his consultations to form the government, the conflict over the proportions of the peace parties in the government began, as well as their adhering demands with the same ministries that they occupy, namely the ministries of “Finance and Minerals”. On the other hand, a conflict began between the parties to the agreement signed on this percentage established in the Juba peace agreement.
