Sudan loses 95% of its geological research

Follow-up- Al-Zawiya Net- The Committee for the Inventory of the General Authority for Geological Research in Sudan announced that the destruction rate in the main headquarters reached about 95%, in addition to the loss of the majority of technical laboratories and the main library and the damage of paper and electronic maps.

The Chairman of the Committee, d. Ahmed Mudawi Ezzeddine, the final report on the damage to the authority’s headquarters in the state of Khartoum was completed.

He said that the report represents a “point of light in the time of darkness”, and proves that the will of construction is stronger than the tools of demolition.

Mudawi pointed out that the work of the committee included five main tracks, including the evaluation of infrastructure, the examination of digital systems, the inventory of assets, and the review of technical and administrative damage, and stressed that the authority is able to overcome the effects of the destruction, and that what was achieved represents a step towards restoring institutional performance despite the challenges.

The report pointed out that the damage is caused by attacks and looting of the headquarters during the armed conflict between the Sudanese armed forces and the rapid support militia, which led to the destruction of technical networks, surveillance cameras and service (servers).
