Follow-up- Al-Zawiya Net- Why did the recent reconciliation messages sent by the commander of the Rapid Support Militia, Mohamed Hamdan Daglo (Hamidati) towards Cairo, that is, responded and met with a clear State by the Egyptian authorities, who confirmed their adherence to its principles in dealing with Sudan, which is to respect his sovereignty and support institutional legitimacy without interference in its internal affairs.

This came after Nader Hamidati appeared among his forces in a field camp in the Darfur region, the first in nearly a year, where he broadcast a registered speech on Sunday evening through the official “Telegram” channel of his forces, in which he said: “We reviewed our accounts, and we concluded that the dialogue with Egypt is more more escalation”, stressing that his forces are not in hostility with any country, and seek to enhance border cooperation with neighboring countries.

Reconciliation statements came weeks after a visual registration in which Hamidati charged directly accusations of Egypt of supporting the Sudanese army with weapons and aviation, which are allegations that Cairo denied at the time strongly, confirming its commitment to neutrality and support for stability in Sudan.

In the first official reaction, an informed Egyptian source told Al -Sharq Al -Awsat that Egypt’s position towards Sudan has not changed, and is to seek security and stability and support legitimate institutions. He added that Cairo is only dealing with the legitimate Sudanese government, according to international standards.

Member of the Egyptian Parliament, Mustafa Bakri, stressed that the speeches of Hamidati “do not receive any interest in Cairo.”

Pointing out that the inconsistencies in his statements weaken his political credibility. He stressed that any cooperation with Hamidati represents a threat to the unity of Sudan, which Egypt considers a red line that affects its national security.

Hamidi’s statements came days after the Rapid Support Forces took control of the border area known as the “triangle”, which is located between Sudan, Libya, and Egypt, and the Sudanese army announced its withdrawal from what he called “defensive arrangements”.

“Our entry into the triangle does not target anyone, but rather strengthens the security of Egyptian, Libyan and guiding neighbors alike.”

However, Egyptian observers considered these statements an attempt to calm regional concerns after the rapid support forces expanded in sensitive areas, stressing that Cairo is closely monitoring the situation without changing its political link.

For his part, Major General Mohamed Rashad, the former undersecretary of the General Intelligence Service, considered that Hamidi’s statements are merely a “political maneuver” aimed at entering Egypt as a party in the Sudanese conflict, with the aim of creating field legitimacy for his forces. He stressed that Egypt will not slip into an internal conflict in Sudan, and that its policy starts from supporting stability and dealing only with legitimate entities.

Rashad stressed that Egypt “knows how to protect its security and borders well, and does not depend on promises from informal parties or outside the institutions of the Sudanese state.”

This political scratch comes at a time when the Sudanese scene is witnessing an accelerated deterioration in the security and humanitarian conditions, while the diplomatic stalemate continues on the horizon of a comprehensive political solution.
