(3) Million doses arrive in Port Sudan

Follow-up- Al-Zawiya Net- The Federal Ministry of Health received a shipment of cholera vaccines provided by the International Coordination Committee for cholera coordination, and the quantity is estimated at three million doses. Today, one million five hundred thousand doses have been received, and the remaining amount will arrive tomorrow, Friday.

The shipment was received at Port Sudan International Airport, representative of the Undersecretary of the Federal Ministry of Health, Dr. Esmat Mustafa, in addition to the accompanying delegation, and the deputy representative of UNICEF in Sudan, Ann Marie Sawai.

In press statements, Dr. Esmat expressed his thanks to international organizations for their active contribution to containing the epidemic, noting that Sudan obtained three million doses, in addition to one million and two hundred thousand doses allocated to the states of Darfur, is an important support in the cholera control path.

He noted the efforts made by the General Administration of Basic Health Care and the Department of Extension Evidence, and assured the citizens of the safety and security of the vaccine.

For her part, Ann Marie Sawai expressed her happiness for the arrival of vaccines, and revealed the approval of the International Coordination Committee to combat cholera on the Ministry’s request for additional doses to the states of Darfur, thanking the Ministry of Health for the good coordination.

It is worth noting that the shipment arrived on a private rented plane with the support of UNICEF.
