A tragedy in Libya puts the Sudanese at stake

Follow-up- Al-Zawiya Net- A Sudanese refugee named Salem Othman (39 years old) died as a result of an attack by unknown gunmen in the Tajura area, east of the Libyan capital, Tripoli.

This tragic incident caused a great concern about the safety of refugees in Libya, as this attack is a part of a series of attacks targeting this weak group in society.

According to the testimony of a victim’s family, the gunmen stormed Othman’s house at four thirty in the morning, and their goal was to steal. When Uthman tried to defend himself, they shot him before they flew from the place.

The residents of the neighborhood have immediately informed the security services after the accident, and the Libyan authorities are still conducting extensive searches to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

The victim’s body was transferred to the morgue of a hospital in the capital, where the legal procedures related to burial are expected to be completed by the competent authorities.

It should be noted that Libya hosts a large number of Sudanese refugees, as they number about 313 thousand people, distributed in cities such as infidels, Benghazi and Ajdabiya in the east, in addition to Misrata and Tripoli in the west, which increases concerns about their security under the current circumstances.
