Follow-up- Al-Zawiya Net- The former Chadian Minister of the Interior, Ibrahim Al-Aseel, warned of risks that threaten the lives of thousands of Sudanese refugees in Chad, and Al-Aseel said, according to the Russian Sputnik Agency, that weather factors, diseases and epidemics threaten the lives of thousands, especially since the temperatures exceed 50 degrees, while the shelters and camps suffer from overcrowding in a large way.
Al -Aseel explained that he had previously visited the camps when he was in the ministry, and was briefed on the humanitarian conditions in the camps, which were suffering from a severe shortage of possibilities to face the risks of rain in winter, which cause many diseases, and high temperatures in summer, which cause deaths and several diseases.
He stressed that the capabilities that Chad have ranked since the beginning of the crisis are unable to face the challenges faced by hundreds of thousands of Sudanese fleeing, in light of the lack of commitment by international institutions concerned with providing the necessary assistance.
The former minister warned that the summer will witness more high temperatures than they are now, which means increasing the risks, in light of the continued arrival of thousands of Sudanese fleeing the war.
He stressed that his country, with its limited capabilities, is unable to meet the necessary needs of more than a million and a half refugees, whether related to food, medicine and decent housing to avoid the expected risks and deteriorating health conditions.
In the context, the academic and the Chadian analyst, Ismail Mohamed Taher, said that a large flow process has occurred since last January at Chad at a pace that made the situation out of control.
In his conversation with “Sputnik”, he added that the “Valley Vehra” area in northeastern Chad alone received nearly 40,000 refugees, especially after the battles intensified in the north of Darfur between the Sudanese army and rapid support.
He explained that what happened from a large influx of tens of thousands was disturbed by the state budgets and international organizations working in the field of refugees, and caused the consequences that occurred, following malnutrition, the scarcity of medicine, water, the spread of epidemics and diseases.
