Russian pharmaceutical factories in Sudan

Follow-up- Al-Zawiya Net- Dr. Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim, the Sudanese Minister of Health, with the Russian Deputy Minister of Health, discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in various health fields and the manufacture of medicine in Sudan.

Minister Haitham expressed his appreciation for historical and continuous support from the Russian side, stressing that Sudan is keen to renew and expand areas of cooperation in strengthening health systems, providing medical supplies and medicines, and capacity building.

The discussions focused on Sudan’s urgent needs of medical equipment, diagnostic tools, and basic medical supplies.

Haitham also stressed the importance of facilitating medical tourism, especially for the injured as a result of the war, who need specialized medical care outside the country, and expressed his aspiration to support the Russian side to meet these needs.

The two parties agreed on the necessity of preparing a memorandum of understanding and a clear road map for cooperation with the aim of expediting the implementation of these joint initiatives.

The Russian Deputy Minister of Minister Dr. Haytham also invited the Russian investment to establish factories to produce medicines in Sudan, taking advantage of his strategic location in the COMESA market as a gateway to other African markets, especially with the Sudanese government to restore the stability of most regions in the country.

The meeting concluded by emphasizing the commitment of both sides to document cooperation during the next economic forum in June, in which His Excellency Minister Dr. Haitham, as it will be an excellent opportunity to sign the memorandum of understanding and the road map.
